special effects test: harpies
We’ve done some claymation and stop motion with toys, but this will be our first attempt at building a stop motion armature model.
Our first goal is to build the harpy model. Next, we want to create the illusion that she’s flying. Lastly, we want the harpy to swoop down from the sky and snatch up a person.

Status: pre-production
The second phase of our test is to mix the stop motion footage with a live actress in a harpy costume.
We’ll be building a harness / pulley system for the actress to be hoisted in front of a greenscreen.
Finally, we want to use this effect in a short movie we’ve written. Once we’ve achieved the effect, we’ll post more on the script and the cast that we’ll be looking for.
We’re currently seeking a special makeup effects artist and an actress to help with the live action.
